Window Washer Review:
Summary:
Window Washer is a great product with a great feature set. With it's intuitive user interface and ease-of-use design, it is an excellent choice for a non-technical user.
Features:
The features of Window Washer are almost identical to Privacy Guardian however, Windows Washer has fewer pre-defined plugins. Window Washer also contains a permanent erase feature, also called Bleach. Bleach options are customizable allowing you to set the overwrite level of deleted files. One unique feature that Window Washer provides is the ability to create a boot disk to permanently erase an entire hard drive - useful if you plan to donate or sell your computer, and would like to permanently erase all data first. Window Washer also has a customizable scheduling feature.
Usability:
The user interface of Window Washer is probably our favorite of those that we have reviewed. It is very clean, intuitive, and makes it easy to find various options. During the cleaning process, you are shown a list of all cleaning items along with progress of the cleaning.
Effectiveness:
By default, Window Washer does not permanently delete cleaned items - you must first enable the Bleach feature for this. This may be desired, or it may not. Window Washer did a good job at cleaning during our tests.
Support:
The help file included explains all options. They also have an online ticket based system to submit questions - they answered our questions in about 15 minutes. |
